Whatever happened to January 4th?
January 4th indeed! We've been open a few weeks now and when I look back and read my renovation optimism, I want to laugh! We could have done a Holmes on Holmes episode. Although the place is far from finished, now that we have a "little yellow" in the place it really seems to be coming together. K

Spot the bad pun...Or the week 3 update.
Domestique is about to be transformed from an ugly caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly. The chrysalis stage will be the 2 weeks over the holidays. Starting between 3 p.m. Sunday, December 20th and 8 a.m. on Monday the 4th of January. I know I’ve been saying we were going to be open until 3 on Christmas Eve but the electrical situation was a bit of a shock...Figuratively speaking of course. Although I expected a few Mike Holmes moments from what I’d seen before buying the building, I felt I should “make it right” before we got too far along. Although the work should be done Monday, things always take longer than you think. Sigh. All that said, I’ll likely be around the café most days and if I’m there, the espresso machine will be on so I’ll try to accommodate people as best as I can. After 3 weeks I’m very happy with how things are coming along. It seems most people say something along the lines of “Dundas really needs something like this” so I hope that will translate into bums in the seats and coffees in hand! Thanks to everyone so far. K

So here we are at the end of week two. Things seem to be getting along. All should be good with the City of Hamilton by Monday and I'll be able to start actually charging real prices! The logo/brand is still on "the slows" as it were but I'm confident that all will be well or well enough by the fourth of January. My overall confidence is buoyed by the fact that people are generally very positive and supportive of what I'm trying to accomplish. Based on the feedback I've received, I will adjust my hours through the winter and I will add more savoury offerings sooner than I'd planned. I think weekday hours will run eight to four or five and nine to five on Saturday. I'll revisit Sundays in the spring as I don't want to not be there for the post ride/run/hike crowd. Anyway, thanks to everyone so far. K
